DJ Michelle

Michelle Tanmizi was born in Indonesia, but has lived in many countries,
including France, Africa and Central and South America. She is currently
based in Hong Kong. At a very early age, it was discovered that she not
only has a love of music, but an 'ear' for it. At the age of 5, she was playing
the piano purely by listening to the song, before she was allowed to take
formal lessons at the age of 6. Hence began her musical education.

Michelle's DJ debut started in 2003 with Hip Hop, R&B and commercial
dance music, at the Hong Kong Sevens, an international Rugby event that
draws thousands of people from around the world. After her first gig, the
corporate box where she worked with another DJ, was voted the best party
box of the event. The rest, as they say, is history. She is now one of the
regular DJs at the event every year.

Michelle's strength in her work comes not only from her musical
background, but also from her ability to instinctively know what moves
people on the dancefloor. An astute observer and a 'people person', she
also gets her inspiration from watching the interaction between the
dancers. Spinning salsa music is second nature to Michelle. Since she
started, she has not only drawn in crowds to any clubs where she works,
but has also earned herself the reputation of being one of the best DJs in
Hong Kong.

Being also as passionate about salsa dancing as she is about spinning
music, Michelle has an instinctive understanding of rhythm. This is felt in
her DJ work and her music choice. Being possibly the only Professional
female Salsa DJ in Asia makes her unique in her field but her music makes
her special.

DJ Michelle received Albert Torres Production's award at the 2007 West
Coast Salsa Congress, for her contribution as DJ to the world of Latin
music and dance.

Michelle is also a certified DJ by the London School of Sound


S@MURAI(Tokyo)

Profile : 2000 DJ debut. DJ-ing at Major Club hosted by Salsa Quimbombo Project, such as M-Carlo, TwoFace, Cipango, Reino, Alife, Studio Coast and etc.

At the sametime, working as SHJ's Official DJ playing in event such as Japan Salsa Congress, Salsa Libre en Velfarre.  S@murai also teach in DJ workshops.  

From 2004 onwards, he work actively as the major DJ of Extreme Salsa.  Until now, he is revoluting his play style constantly, working his way towards the road of NY Salsa/Mambo DJ. New York Congress 2005, Being the 1st Japanese to be invited to play  in Washington DC Salsa Congress (Jun2006).  Through this even S@murai received fabulous comment from NY No.1 DJ Nelson Torres and World Salsa DJ Henry Knowles
